Today, while trimming the hedges, I nearly stepped on a fascinating creature – a praying mantis! These masters of camouflage blend so seamlessly with the foliage, and their slow, deliberate movements make them easy to overlook. Luckily, I spotted it just in time and carefully relocated it to a safer spot in the garden.

I snapped a quick picture of this mantis that I found here in Medford, Oregon. Did you know these amazing insects are actually beneficial predators? They feast on all sorts of garden pests, from aphids to grasshoppers.

If you see a praying mantis in your garden, consider yourself lucky! Let them do their work and enjoy observing these unique creatures.”
